Buckaroos 33, Bulls 6
by Jimmy Rodriguez (BullWriter), Fever Reporter

That's no type-o, that is the real deal folks. The Bulls showcased the most inept offensive display, I dare say since I was playing ball and we were running the Veer offense. You know, the good ole days!
What I saw tonight had me dumbfounded. Had it not been for a juggernaut effort by the defense, the score probably would've approached 70-6.
Let's review the some GOOD, a lot BAD, and mostly UGLY.
The game was a boxing match from the start but you started to get the idea that Breckenridge had a game plan to overpower the offensive line and put major pressure on Durban. They had no respect for Yun Schuett and rightfully so.
The strategy paid off as Durban started to miss the open man on screens.
The first possession resulted in a fumble when Stewart Price nailed an unsuspecting Durban in the chest. He managed to recover the ball but that killed the drive.
The defense handled Breckenridge and Blaine Vick on the opening possession but the next one they got tested. They are weak up the middle and Breck exposed this. They moved the ball from their 26-yard line to the Bulls' 20-yard line. A bad exchange was fumbled but Vick was able to pounce on it at the 30-yard line. On the next play, he tried to connect with a receiver running a post but John Torres read the play, stepped in front, and intercepted the pass.
On their ensuing possession, they managed to drive to the Bulls' 18-yard line before a fumble and a sack put them back at the 36-yard line.
Facing 3rd-and-27, backup Ronnie Langford tossed a bomb to try and get into the end zone. John Torres hauled in his second interception of the night and set up the Bulls at their 19-yard line.
On the following possession, Durban found Abel Prendez on the receiver screen and Prendez did the rest. He looked like Forrest Gump running to the end zone and it was a thing of beauty. This was the highlight of the night for the offense. Unfortunately the Bulls came back down to earth thanks to their special teams.
First, Antonio Martinez missed the extra-point, and then everyone missed Jackie Cooper on the ensuing kickoff. He galloped over 80-yards and the Bulls only enjoyed their only lead for a total of 16 seconds.
A Durban fumble on the ensuing possession was recovered by Breckenridge and they scored 5 plays later. They extended their lead to 12-6 because we aren't the only ones with extra-point troubles.
The half ended with Durban going (unofficially) 6-of-14, 115 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Bulls only rushed the ball 4 times and Durban was sacked or thrown for a loss three other times.
They chalked up 2 first downs on their own (three if you give them one on the touchdown) and 1 off a penalty.
The second half did not get better.
The Bulls went three and out and J.T. Blair kicked a beautiful punt that hit the coffin corner. Breckenridge set up at their 1-yard line and rolled up their sleeves and went to work.
They converted 3 first downs, their last one being a 3rd-and-7 at their 41-yard line. Who else but Blaine Vick, dropped back to pass, found no one open, and ran right up the middle. He was untouched enroute to a 59-yard touchdown. By this point it was only 18-6.
On the next drive the option was run to defection with a bad pitch from Durban to Schuett. Breckenridge recovered but somehow the defense pulled it together and held them off.
They drove down to the Bulls' 4-yard line but the defense forced the fumble, recovered it, and Breckenridge committed a personal foul.
The Bulls moved up to the 17-yard line but on the next three plays gave it right back. Two fumbles set them back to the 5-yard line and a run lost them 2 yards more. Blair was in the back of the end zone and he picked the worst time to shank the ball.
Breckenridge took over on the Bulls' 23-yard line and Vick scored on an 18-yard run. The 2-point conversion worked and the Bulls trailed 26-6.
Another fumble didn't kill the Bulls but Ryan Durban did appear to hurt himself during the drive.
The defense once again held off Breckenridge but for the remainder of the game, Caleb Kaker was tossed in at quarterback. Apparently Durban was done for the evening.
Kaker tried his best but he was unable to do much.
The defense gave up a final touchdown on a 6-play drive that saw 3 penalties, a forced fumble by Dustin Krebs get called back on a personal foul penalty by the Bulls, and a 26-yard reception on 2nd-and-23. Micheal Hayworth closed out the scoring with a 4-yard plunge.
The final was 33-6 and it wasn't even that close. Despite the lopsided score there were some bright spots. The defense forced at least 4 turnovers, had approximately 4 sacks, and did manage to stop quite a few drives. But in order for them to improve they must have time to rest. The offensive woes were devastating on all fronts.

The Bulls also lost more than their pride on Friday. Durban was seen wearing a sling after the game so who knows what his status is.

The injury bug continues to bite the Bulls and it looks like it may be a long season if they don't find an answer for their offensive problems.

Before Durban finally left the game the Bulls had rushed a total of 4 times in the second half and two resulted in fumbles that were lost. YIKES!!!
