Panther Update at the Halfway Point
by Paul Barnett, Friday Night Fever Reporter (Texas2AFootball.com)

Halfway point...

As was posted earlier this season the Paradise offense has been very impressive through the first 5 weeks. The Panthers finally put together a pretty complete game for the first time this season against Aubrey.

One of the big things that sticks out about Paradise is that they have answered everything their opponents have done this year. In previous years, Paradise has not been able to answer a team score for score. So far this year they have been able to.

For the past two weeks Paradise has been without Matt Webber, which makes the defensive performances of the past two weeks more impressive as the Panthers have shown the depth they have in the trenches. Also Paradise has had one of their main deep threats at receiver out since the beginning of the season. Cody Hambrick did play 10 to 15 snaps on offense against Aubrey but was not one of the main players during the game.

District play...

District play begins in a week and a half for all of 10-2A. Paradise is 5-0 heading into their biggest game of the season as they will travel to Cisco, in what will be a rematch of a very memorable Bi-district playoff game from a year ago in which Paradise won in the final seconds 27-24.

The Boyd Yellow Jackets head into Eastland looking to avenge a 38-7 loss in Bi-District action. They should have no trouble as Eastland has been absolutely terrible thru their first 5 games of the season.

One of the surprise teams of non-district action has been the Godley Wildcats as they have quietly marched to a 4-1 record in non-district play. They will be 1-0 in district as they will face Millsap in a week and a half.

With Paradise, Boyd, Cisco, and Godley all looking strong so far, the district race ought to be fun to watch
