One of the more anticipated matchups of the season will occur in the first week of district play in 10-2A as the Cisco Loboes will host the Paradise Panthers in a rematch of a 2005 Bi-District Playoff game in which the Panthers upset the Loboes 27-24 in the final seconds of the game.
The Cisco Loboes come into district play at 4-1. Their lone loss of the season came in week 0 to the Early Longhorns 32-20. Since then, the Loboes have averaged 48 points per game, much of which have come in the first half.
The Loboes are led by quarterback Jacob West who transferred from Gainesville last spring. West has rushed for 464 yards on the season on 40 attempts, he has also thrown for 439 yards this season.
West is not the only threat the Loboes have. The Loboes have several very talented backs and receivers in Josh Bridges, Joe Traweek, Cordero Kuykendall, Matt Sellers and Quintavius Garrett who has a 9.7 yard per carry average.
As far as total offense the Loboes are averaging 408 yards per game, 320 on the ground. The defense for Cisco is also strong allowing only 228 yards per game and are led by Jory Hernandez with 45 tackles so far this year.
As for the Paradise Panthers, they come into district play 5-0 for the first time since 2001. The Panthers are averaging 34 points per game and look to be hitting their stride coming into district play.
The Panthers are led by quarterback Josh Erwin who has thrown for 912 yards and has rushed for 308 yards in the first 5 games of the year. Erwin is among the leaders in scoring in western North Texas with 66 points scored. Two of Erwin's favorite targets has been sophomore Nick Pike, and senior Braxton Huggins who have caught a combined 18 passes for 429 yards.
Erwin will have his favorite target from last year returning this week, as Cody Hambrick will see his first action against the Loboes. The Panther backfield is very deep like Cisco. Bradley Bryant, Hunter Watson, Zach Bruton, Nick Pike, and Casey Christian will all get carries.
The Panthers are averaging 406 yards yards per game, 224 yards on the ground. The Paradise defense is allowing around 11 points per game, and 209 yards per game. The defense is led by Matt Webber who also returns from an injury this week.
